Confessions

So everyone has lil things about them that make them unique/dorky whatever. I thought I'd share some of them...
  • My life revolves around lists (as evidence by this blog entry and the last one)
  • I think it's really cute when "Singing in the Rain" plays before the water squirts out onto the veges at the grocery store
  • I could listen to Time Life Ultimate Rock Ballads for a lifetime and not get tired of it. I will own it one day
  • Whenever I take a car trip, I pack a book on CD to listen to in the car
  • I wish my life had background music that would just start playing with the right music at the right time
  • I feel that I should read old books or watch classic movies because people in the movies love them.
  • I've bought books before read them and then taken them back for a refund.
  • I'm scared of what I'm going to look like and how my body is going to feel after years and years of being a nurse.
That's all for now...

Myself

Things I'm learning about myself lately...
- I think summer is my favorite season. For a long time, I've said I don't have a favorite season because there are so many things that I love about each one. I like summer the best.

-I like to be with other people more than like I like being with myself.

-I'm an old fashioned and I like it that way.

-I want to be one of those people that writes in a journal every day and has interesting things to say.

-I think have a lot to offer.

-I'd rather read a good book than watch TV

-I want to do medical missions.

-I want to know how to do things. Like reupholster furniture and make curtains

-I'm afraid my patients are going to think I'm a bad nurse

-I say blue is my favorite color. I also like green and pink too. I can't decide

-I think I've become more indecisive

-I like any romantic comedy. Even if it's predictable.

This is all for now.

Family, Food, and Fortune

Family: Over Father's Day weekend, we had our first Cox family reunion. My grandpa and two of his brothers started a family of 33. (I think that's right and I don't really want to count) My grandpa's gang accounted for 18 of those family members. The rest of the Cox family is from northern Ohio, so we all met for the weekend at a Kentucky State Park. No, we did not camp. I do not camp. I like air conditioning and showers daily. Anyway, I was really glad to see my extended family that I haven't seen in about 11 years. 4 of those family members I have never met before so it was fun getting to spend time with them also.
Sunday, my family packed back up and went to Cincinnati. We lived there from the time I was in kindergarden til 3rd grade. I really liked living there and Cincinnati has a lot of fun things to do for families. They have a 25 mile bike and walking trail that goes around the city and it is flat. That's something we do not have in Birmingham. They paved over a railroad line so that helps with the flatness. Steal an idea Alabama!
We also went to Union Terminal. This was one of my favorite places to go when we lived there. It's an old train terminal from the 1930s that they turned into a museum. It still looks like it's from the 1930s also. The ceiling is domed shaped and has beautiful murals on the walls. You can stand on one side of the lobby and whisper and a person at the other side can hear you because the sound travels. If you could see how wide the entry was, this might be more exciting. One side is a natural history museum and the other side is a history of Cincinnati. We only visited the natural history side and some of the exhibits haven't changed since 1993.
King's Island is the 6 Flags of Cincinnati. My brothers and I had a great time riding the rides and it was surprising what a little dare devil Will has become. I wish you could've seen the pictures while we were on the ride. I had my mouth open screaming, Will's head was down, and Ben looked wind blown.
Food: The first thing we did when we got there was go to Gold Star Chili. There's nothing like it anywhere. Chili isn't really the right word to describe it though. You can order it on spaghetti or on, my favorite, little coney hot dogs. They put the chili on the coney and then cover it with shredded cheese. Mmm...Yum. The next stop we made was Grater's Ice Cream. This is the best ice cream that I've ever had. They have a flavor called Black Raspberry Chip. They should really call it Black Raspberry with huge pieces of chocolate chunks. It's so good they've shipped it to the west coast, and my family found out it cost 80 dollars to have 6 pints shipped in dry ice to your house. It's worth every penny.
Montgomery Inn is famous for their Ribs. I am not a fan of ribs but they supposedly give Dreamland a run for their money. I can tell you that they have Saratoga potato chips that you dip in the barbecue sauce and they are wonderful.
United Dairy Farmers makes the best milkshakes and malts.
So, basically my family went to Ohio to eat and I think I'm still full.

Fortune: I got paid. Enough said.

Wedding Season

Today, I went and got the mail and came inside and said "Oh look...Another wedding invitation!"
My 12 year old brother follows with, "Well you must be feeling pretty left out, aren't you?"

I hope that was a good laugh for you :)

It's official

Scrubs

I got scrubs! I decided to hold off on the prints and crazy colors until I scope it out and see what everyone else is wearing. I'd rather not be the only one wearing polka dots. No more white! Hallelujah! I'm very excited about basically wearing pajamas to work every day. Being on my feet for 12 hours at a time would not be fun in suits and stilettos. You'd think scrubs would be cheap. Well, they aren't or maybe I just like the "designer" ones. I guess part of my first paycheck will be going to more scrubs. Adding that to the list...

Collection

I just moved back home and I'm already getting ready to move out. We'll not quite, but I've been trying to decide what my decorating style is. I really can't make up my mind. I like lots of different things, but I do know what I like & dislike

I've started looking at stuff and beginning a very long list of how I'm going to spend my first paycheck. We will see how I do with self-control...

I, at last, own my favorite candle. I would walk into Anthropology and hold it under my nose for awhile but always put it back. I couldn't allow myself to spend 28 dollars on a candle. Actually, I could allow myself if I had 28 bucks! Lucky for me I have a very sweet friend that bought it for my graduation present. Take your noses and check it out!

I found this bathroom rug that I love! I'll be adding that to the list too.

Grrr

I thought I would have lots of news
I'm still having to wait
Although, I do know how much I'll be making and that I can wear whatever color scrubs I want.
I'm only satisfied with one of those and I bet you can guess which one.
More news to come.
I hope

New Beginnings

I have so many family and friends that I want to share my life with and don't get a chance to see and/or talk to them all the time, so I thought this would be a good way. I hope my life will be a lil interesting and entertaining.

Tomorrow, I have a meeting with the Director of Human Resources about my new job. I'm a lil anxious because I will be finding out:
What department I'll be working in
What my hours will be
How much money I'll be making
and most importantly...what color scrubs I'll be wearing :)

I'm really excited about everything going on in my life right now. I'm starting life and I feel very blessed that I have a good start in life with a college career behind me, a degree I'm actually using, and a career waiting for me. I'm really happy that the career I've chosen is recession proof also.

Here's to starting life!
